I've acquired a tidy stash of a few flavors of Caron Cakes (original, Big Cakes, Tea Cakes, and Sprinkle Cakes) by purchasing them from area Tuesday Morning stores over the past few months. They buy lots of leftover inventory from companies, so sometimes they get interesting yarns and sell them at a discount. Hence the various sampling that is visible in my Instagram feed - I've started and stalled on multiple projects before, during, and after the bell sleeve pullover, here are a few examples:
Star stitch in Sprinkle Cakes in Mocha Rainbow. I'm planning on making a ruana/sweater wrap with this, similar to the sweater wraps that Bonnie Barker designs. Right now it's masquerading as a scarf. I'll use the 2nd cake to make the back portion.
I started the Amelia Raglan with a Big Cake in Blueberry Scone, but the original proportions didn't work for my body - the sleeves were huge by the time the top-down sweater was large enough to fit me and be split from the sleeves. So I frogged it a few days ago (with moral support from Jake, shown here) and restarted with more stitches in the front and back of the starting rectangle. We'll see how that goes.
This is the beginning of the Zenith Cable Scarf by Noelle Stiles, using a classic Caron Cake in Turkish Delight. I've purchased several of her patterns, because I love the crochet cables she focuses on, but tend to complete simpler designs. So I started this scarf and her Moonbeam Cable Blanket (in Lion Brand Thick & Quick) in December.
